At the same time, he knows bait when he sees it. D is someone he feels closer to than most here if just by virtue of the fact that he allowed him to put Buzen first, but Matsui is also the kind of person who can't help but pry at loose floorboards a bit.]

Humans must look at themselves and change, or they will destroy themselves and take the world along with it. The only ones who can save humans are themselves. Only they can repent for the things they've done.
He really did come for D though and for WHAT. WHAT DID HE DO THIS FOR!! Also help. D is really just out here. At least Matsui can understand this from the angle of penance... This appeals to his Catholic nature.]

[Because he agrees that only humans can repent for their sins and that they're going to destroy themselves and the world if they aren't stopped BUT ALSO HE COMES FROM A TIME WHERE THIS MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE ALREADY HAPPENED.]
Matsui will just level D a stare for another few silent seconds, his expression as difficult to read as ever. Internally, he's just like, WELL. WE WILL SIMPLY NEVER SEE THE DAY!! He doesn't dislike humans; he's just far from idolizing them. Being a pessimistic person in general means he sees the shenanigans they get up to and fears the worst.
Eventually, as if he's come to his own internal conclusions, his eyes close and he nods.]
[WOW, DON'T LOOK AT HIM LIKE THAT. He looks right back, unwavering. He doesn't care how many other human sympathizers out there try to convince him, he won't feel ashamed of thinking this way after (redacted). He knows Matsui understands at least a little.
